Mindfulness, Meditation and Relaxation

At Calm Kids, we know that the key to developing a healthy sense of wellbeing is to empower our children and adolescents (and parents too!) to build strategies that allow the mind and body to rest and restore. To flourish in our daily lives means having the ability to manage the challenges that inevitably come our way. This requires psychological flexibility, which simply means that we can stay in the present moment, feeling into whatever emotions show up for us, no matter what the situation is, and respond appropriately with intention. This provides a stepping stone to building the skills of resilience and persistence. We often tell children to “calm down”; however, we rarely teach the explicit skill of how to do this. Developing a practice of mindful awareness is the basis of emotional regulation.

At Calm Kids, we incorporate aspects of Mindfulness, Meditation and Relaxation into all of our work; however, we also offer specific sessions for those who wish to discover techniques for becoming more intentional in all aspects of life.
